no, not time programmed… it's a constant sensor… as long as it has 5V it'll try to pic the best position.

time programmed?

I just purchaced this same system from ebay and was wondering on a cloudy day , what is the average volts or what can i expect on a cloudy day? I know it will be less but will it still charge any at all?

i designed a circuit to track the sun without using any of the high-tech devices available today… i did it because i think using GPS and calculation of the sun's path across the sky is to complicated and expensive to do something a sunflower does for almost no cost. I actually got the idea from the sunflowers, i think imitating nature is one of the best ways to accomplish things… i hope i can mass produce them to get more energy out of the regular static solar panels.

yea and sand wood with the power lol

This video is very constructive! I have 110 watts of solar!! Everybody should try to go solar :-)

Im beginning a home set-up, I have a 80w-17v kyocera solar panel cost is $410usd, but Im looking the correct charge controller for this, somebody can recomend to me a brand or specs? thanks

How about a small water tower and a turbine? Much cleaner than batteries.

This is like using the generators in a dam to put water into the resivoir when you could just use the rainwater runoff that flows into it. Batteries would work better for storing the power.

Excuse my poor spelling. I have been drinking a little bit. haha :S

I have my system setup. 30W solar panel, 7A charge controler, 300w modified inverter and one golf cart battery. :-)
Might beable to power the take my bedroom off the grid. Still thinking fo adding another 15W solar panel and mab 2 more batteries.

Here is a way that a residential house could effectively store solar energy during the five hours of good sunshine, to last for the full twenty-four hours. Use a hydraulic elevator system lifting a very heavy weight, where the energy is stored by the gravity of the weight. When the sun goes down,or when more power is needed during the five hours of good sunshine, the very heavy weight movement is reversed and the hydraulics is used to generate power.

Hehe great video.. Now anyone could go to nature, build some house there.. and power by solar… I think that any country can afford, for all households to have solar power energy.

I wonder how much would cost house heating. For example, if u invest 15k $.

Thanks for putting these up. I've been getting interested in solar, but I don't have the know how. I have some the conceptual science figured out, but applying it's a different game. I'ts very nice of you, what you're doing. There's so much potential in solar power.

I hooked up a RC Car, a Solar Panel ( from harbor Freight ) and a batter backup system up todeather. worked well intill it caught on fire… the case for the light backup thing was metal and my wire wasnt like heatsinked or anything and to wires like + and + or smthing were touching and it started smoking. lol

I've had the Harbor Freight system 3 months now and use it to charge 3 cell phones, a shaver, a flashlight and to power a phone/ answering mach. I also have a 115 amphr deepcycle battery. So far it seems like I'm under utilizing the system. The charge controller cycles off and on all afternoon.
The trick seems to be to eliminate the wall power adapters and to put things on solar. Try not to use an inverter but, buy a car chargers or make up a cord and plug it into the Harbor Freight panel.

Dan, great video. Very informative, I had been wondering about those panels from harbor freight. My first solar project, I would like to take on, is to convert an attic vent fan to some panels. What % of watts should I go beyond what is needed to power it and can this be done. I feel this is a great place to start with solar due to it bringing down my electric bill in 2 ways. Thanks again.

They are good systems. The company rates each panel at 1.5 amps. Thanks for the information.

thanks for the video. i had been cosidering buying this kit from harbor freight, now i am sure i will. i have a plan to use it to power a home made hydrogen cell to use less gasoline in a car.
.. by the way, 45 watts at 12 volts is 3.75 amps (P/E=I)

Thank you for posting this video. Currently I have this same system and I have two six vol golf batteries conected in series and then connected in parallel with a 12v deep cicle. I also have one 700 watt inverter and I am running a desktop computer and a 13" tv, and charging my mobile phone as well and with the small controller am running the two 5 watt lights and a sirius radio from the cigarret lighter. and it runns for about seven to eight hours a day. planning to add a air turbine latter.

One more thing. Some electronic devices will not work on a Modified Sine inverter. Also many are listed as 750 watt / 1500 watt as an example. The lower number is the one you want to use. The higher number is for load starting. Pure Sine is the safe choice. Walmart and Lowes carry Modified Sine inverters so if you want to test it out, do so with caution.

THANK YOU:-)
I would suggest a Pure Sine inverter that is 300-500 watts. If your monitor is a flat screen, that would make a big difference. Search Ebay for a "KILL O WATT" meter. Plug everything into the device and then into your outlet. This will tell you how many watts your system is running Be sure to crank everything up. Buy 20% over what the meter says you are pulling for Pure Sine and 50% over if you buy a Modified Sine inverter Usually only Pure Sine will state that. Others are Modified

what would you suggest for an inverter to run a desktop computer(monitor, speakers)?

nice vid!!!!!

Thanks for this tip-off, I had no idea such a kit was available for such a low price. When finances permit I'm going to get one for my garage which at the moment has no power and light source.
