Conceptually, they have a good idea. You would not have to run car to charge the battery, while camping at the lake. Plus they a lot more roof area on VW Camper. But I would get rid of the extra weight Tilting mechanism for the Solar Array, and opt for fixed array on their Tilted Pop-top orient the van. This can be possible retrofit, once the solar become more efficent.
This would be awesome, but it looks like a lot of weight and electrical draw for solar power. For a science fair, I helped my nephew convert a 1994 Ford Aspire to solar. We used 96 volt motors powered by 9 deep-cycle glass mat batteries which got us a top speed of 90 kph but a max range of only 17 miles. It had to sit in a parking lot for 2 days to recharge enough to get it home. I hope someday our technology can overcome this because I think solar is the way to go.
it'd be sweet if they really made these things and got the price down. i miss road trips… $4 gas and mega RVs kinda aren't the way to go these days though…
But I'd be solar powered and travelling at the speed of light… the speed of sound couldn't touch me. Hammertime. Duh duh duh dum dum duumm duuumm… can't touch this.
The musics interesting, unexpected and strangely hypnotic, for me at least.
The van looks awesome… what else would you need? Nothing, except some speakers on the outside so you could blast this song as you rolled down the street. : )
What music can you play? I'll bet it's pretty shitty too. Gonna be a Popstar? I can play open string cords, and some jazz cords on an acoustic guitar. I can also play three blind mice on a clarinet.
