IGOOD ADVICE. Its very tempting to look directly at the sun when trying to align the parabloica. Brilliant vid by the way; next time wear please some sunglasses. Thank you

GREENPOWERSCIENCE, shouldn't you be wearing eye protection if you're going to view it burning up that close? I suggest you check up on that. I don't know if it really matters, but I think I read it can be dangerous.

what i meant is that i also have to make a parabolic solar grill. the firs part the equations are 60 pts, a research is 20pts and bilt the solar grill is 20pts. can somebody help me with this

i have project to do for my math class. she gave us some equations, like xsqare=2y, (-3,4.5), find the tangent line x intercepts then graph quadratic equation and tangent line. 9xsqare+24xy+16ysqare+80x-60y=0. she also gave us r=4/1+sin ( ). can somebody help me with this or give me some ideas or websites thanks.

I'm not sure why he hasn't directly responded to requests for information about the mirror film, other than simply trying to protect his market?
I'm not sure exactly what he's using, but I know a material called ReflecTech will do the same job and I think already has the adhesive on the back too.
The manufacturer's site sells it, but the smallest quantity is 150 sq ft. I also found a site which sells smaller quantities. It's expensive though.

Hi,
I will have some on my website soon. A large 4' x 8' section costs about $150. It is thick like a business card and 95%+ perfect mirror. The back side needs adhesive. I use a 3M mounting spray. I had to make some adjustments and the video will be out soon. Material on our website in a few.

We have a satellite dish exactly like that. What is that reflective material that you're using on yours and where could we find some? Any details on price and availability would be helpful.

You can get Aluminum to 90+ if you have the time and the right buffer and paste. I have seen trucks with doors that are amazing.
You have about 36 + sq ft roughly 3500 watts of heat energy at 100+ reflectiveness. If you have a 70% mirror, you are 2500 watts roughly. You would need yo take 25% of the figure for efficiency loss engine boiler generator converter. 2500 x .25=625 watts in a good scenario.

I polished a 7' aluminum dish, it wasnt nearly as reflective as the mylar. That thing was HOT. It would boil a coffee can of water rather quickly. I never got to the main idea- power a steam engine with it. Is there a way to figure how much power would be available with , say, my 7' dish?
A trackng system would be easy to build.

We have some research on Archimedes. I think Mythbusters missed the concept all together. Video soon, I hope:-)

Are you still pursuing this dish? I want to see how far along you have come with this one. I mean, this is the only video that I am actually tracking from your collection. Show me the burny!!

I wish I would find one of those 35 inch dishes cool. I have two 20×22 inch dishes I lined one with mirror on a roll that I bought and it kicks *** pops flames on wood instant. I also made a dish from that one before lining using plexiglas and heated in the oven at 250f like one of your videos instructed that came out ok also. I am going to make a linear parabolid next. thanks for the tips.

dam im seing triplets.lol hey does tin fil work the same way or dose it have to be pure shiny metal for the effect. a magnified mirror burned my dam hand

but could u use an umbrela to form ur parabolic shape

They work, just not as good of heat production.

I saw a solar cooker made out of an umberlla. This way it is very portable.

This is exactly what they are using in Ca. with a sterling engin which runs a generator. State of the art. The heat would fry a solar panel.

there was once a mirror lke this in alexandria they used to burn would be attacking ships.
