PARABOLIC MIRROR 55.7" PARABOLOID SOLAR POWER STEAM GENERATION Concave Mirror Solar Collector 2

GREENPOWERSCIENCE asked:

This is the second video with the 55.7" Parabolic Dish. The water boiled in 90 Seconds from 50F. The container is a Venom Energy Drink made out of thicker gauge Aluminum. I added some black paint to the back but kept the from because it is a cool design. The drink was too sweet for me:-) This dish was slightly damaged so I softened the dents and corrected the surface. This dish is operating at full strength even with the slight damage. It was like that when I got it. I decided to test this …

I'm guessing you'll be showing how to ignite annoying Goodyear blimps using parabolic mirrors in an upcoming video ;-)

that' s a good energy source for impoverished countries. why dont you send some of those dishes to Uganda for example. they' ll be thanking you for that.

Hey, Dan the back yard science man.
How is the solar sterling project going?
Have you got any data on how many of those dishes you will need to generate 8kW even 1kW of usable electric power ?
I am building a few low pressure steam engines. If you want I could send you one to play with.

I would 2nd that.

Dan, how about a practical, complete demo on a 4 or 5 KW steam (or thermal) generator with focused & reflected sunlight I've been interested in doing one, but I've been wondering about the space needed to produce some real power.

Why would using a Stirling motor versus a steam turbine be a waste of energy?

gravguyyahoo

have you tried to boil water with the parabolic mirror to drive a steam generator ( turbine). the idea of running water in and out using the copper tubing looks like you might be able to generate enough. i also saw your suggestion of running a sterling engine but seems like a waste of energy

That was Bush flying over. checking out your oil killing gadgets!!

This is where the issue of 'emissivity' becomes paramount. Painting the surface black obviously helps, a 'selective surface' would help more, but making a simple cavity receiver would be the best because all reflected radiation (most of it anyway) would be absorbed rather than emitted to space.

Have you thought of creating a magnifying glass effect to a reflectivfe surface of a smaller scale? I can't help but think of all the poor ants trashed by kids and think maybe they were onto something.

yeah, free plans? hook us up with a link dude!

Is that Delta Burke or Oprah flying over your house???

oh, i'm looking for a low-cost-tracking-device.

that is what I am offering, free plans

The only "cost effective tracker " is DIY… dude. :P

if you want a cost effective tracker for these mirrors send me a message.

GeoffdeRuiter

Dan I really think you should make something big, not in size but in impact. You have so many cool experiments, but make a 1kw solar thermal generator for your home man! do a series on it! Make it practical!

You should've aimed for the blimp. MWAH HAH HAH! >:)

I have shown your videos to high school pupil and even to College students, who really were ignorant of solar energy. Now every body is trying to make a small solar system for some utilization. With your inspiration,I made a solar system with satellite dish. Thanks for your Societal Help. Is there any effective solar light reflecting coating available in the market, which can be applied even by our high school students.I and our School students will be grateful,if you can help me in this regard.

Mr.Dan, Thanks for all those nice videos, which you have prepared. Theoritically some scientist may say solar energy is powerful, can be collected and be used for various purposes. But a practical video certainly shows a positive effect on the society.

great video as usual, only you can make things like boiling some pond water interesting. lol.

Hi, I also realise that a at dish is cheap and can be made into a heat generator from the sun.

But… although i have bought the dishes, I would love to generate 5 kw of power, and dont have the stirling engine or whatever else and would love to buy that piece of the puzzle. The sat part is the cheap and easy part. steam turbine generator? cheap stirling engines? where? anyone ? I would pay a grand or two for the whole kit apart from the satellite and mirrors, t oget it to be able to produce 4- 5 kw to an inverter

GREENPOWERSCIENCE

Yes, I only need 5, there are 10 good ones in excellent condition. I will be selling the rest. The cost about $950 each with freight shipping. Almost $300 bucks for shipping alone. The original cost was listed at $2100

Dan, Where did you get those dishes? Will you be selling them or were they surplus of limited supply?

GREENPOWERSCIENCE

:-)

Be careful and have fun.

I'm looking for a diy or cost effective tracker for a parabolic mirror we are building. Can you give me some info?
