Cleve
There are various ways to convert the energy of the sun but I will address only solar cells.
Good things:
–No CO2 emissions or other chemicals
–Renewable
–Once the installation is built, it is "free"
–It generates electricity which is a flexible form of energy but …
Bad things:
– The installation must be in a sunny place
– No energy at night
– Under the solar panels, nothing grows and the space cannot be used for something else.
– Difficult to store the energy in large quantities
(example you store In July, August and you use the energy in December)
Future developments and research:
– very efficient solar panels ( currently at beat 20%)
see:#…
– very efficient batteries
I came accross a new, proven and tested home made wind power system and solar power system which eliminates our electricity bills. It was written by a Renewable energy enthusiasts Michael Harvey the diy called Earth4energy. You can get your copy to save energy and help environment while eliminating your power bills. Get it from here:
Cons
- Requires huge amounts of land to make an decent amount of power.
- Requires power lines out to the panels in the middle of nowhere.
- Requires huge amounts of water to cool the panels.
- Requires huge amounts of batteries to store the power so you have power at night.

It is expensive so it takes a long time to pay back what it costs. There are do it yourself kits you can make as well.
